Maloch /meɪlɔx/ Play first of the Drow was once a highly devoted and faithful servant of Father Time. At one point, he was a Master Paladin of Time, serving directly under the Supreme Pontiff, Lynneare. He's the older "half"-brother of Arto, making him a distant relative of Roland.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Drow Civil War[edit | edit source]
Maloch eventually became the de facto leader of the Drow, though many blamed him for their being cursed. Eventually, their misplaced hatred led to a drow civil war, in which the father of Jandanero, Jandantuul was killed. Thus the drow factions chose matriarchal leaders, as the first of the cursed and the one who they see as having led them astray was a male.[1]
Physical appearance[edit | edit source]
- Eyes: Light gray
- Hair: Long white hair
- Height:
- Weight:
Maloch is a large drow, dark-skinned with light gray eyes and long white hair. He wears black steel alloy armor, and He's observed by Roland to be big for an elf, and thick through the chest.[citation needed]
Inspiration[edit | edit source]
Maloch's physical appearance was based on a combination of Jeremy Irons in The Time Machine and Luke Goss’s role in Hellboy II.[2]
Personality[edit | edit source]
After the Battles of Rending, to gain some power in his life, he gave into excess; killing many along the way.[3] Despite his many crimes over his thousands of years of life, Maloch is an honorable person. He genuinely wants to repent for his crimes, showing a strong desire to return to his beloved church. Though he led a band of Drow when he met Roland, he was just a follower leading followers.[3]
After being bested in battle, true to his word, he allowed Roland and his friends to leave freely, showing his deep-down, honorable nature. Maloch seems to have turned over a new leaf after his duel with Roland. It may have been a number of factors that caused the change; From being bested by a descendent of Lord Ivant in Lord Ivant's armor, and wielding his Shrou Hayn, Swift Blood, to Roland, the better man, sparing his life. Whatever it was, Maloch seemed to realize he was the villain in his own life, and after thousands of years, he finally began to repent for his many crimes; even if it cost him his life.[3]
When Maloch showed up to Roland's wedding to Clairinese, he did so metaphorically on a bent knee; Humbled, and offering his hand in friendship. Roland yet again, the better man, accepted his friendship and allowed him to stay.[citation needed]
Maloch's third encounter with Roland was on the battlefield yet again. This time as an ally, the first Drow in history to fight alongside Lethanor, not against it. He stuck around long enough to let Roland know that his words weren't hollow and that he truly was a changed man.[citation needed]
Despite his personal growth and desire to repent, he remains the same in other ways. When Lynneare asks a favor, he uses Maloch's desire to repent as a factor to manipulate him. Dactlnese sees through this and even calls Lynneare out on it, regardless, Maloch agrees as he is, and always has been a follower.[citation needed]
Weapons and Abilities[edit | edit source]
Maloch fights with magnificent paired Shrou-Shelds.[citation needed]

Depths of Nolcavanor[edit | edit source]
Maloch's major appearance is in the highest tower in the Cathedral of Time in the Capital City of the Kingdom of Rexyaud, Nolcavanor. Maloch faces off against Lord Ivant, King Vech and General Willock, alongside Lynneare and Truthorne. After Truthorne and Lynneare were cursed by the gods for their betrayal. After praying to his god and receiving no response, he cursed father time and sent a black prayer to fallen champions instead, who answered his furious call.[citation needed]
Roland's Path[edit | edit source]
Several thousand years after the events of Death of a City, Birth of a Curse, Maloch encounters Roland, the distant descendant of Lord Ivant. Roland, accompanied by Ashcliff and Eldryn, and Malocj accompanied by ~20 Drow. After a brief discussion, Roland faced off against Maloch in single combat, where was bested. Roland spared Maloch's life, and Roland and his band were permitted to leave.[citation needed]
It was revealed in "Where did it come from? Wednesday! #9 that the single combat between Roland and Maloch 'actually happened'. Maloch began as an NPC (Non-Player Character). Roland was a low-level character, played by R.J. Hanson. Due to a lucky initiative attack, AND multiple crit rolls, Roland cut off Maloch's leg and thus the party was able to escape.[4]
Roland's Vow[edit | edit source]
Roland's Triumph[edit | edit source]
Seeking redemption, Maloch comes to Roland and Clairinese's wedding as a friend of the groom, along with Lynneare.
